Many landlords do
not care if
their tenants suffer severe health problems by living in mold infested
apartments and rental houses. Similarly, many employers do not care if their
employees and/or customers experience significant mold-related health
problems by working in or visiting in mold-contaminated workplaces such as
mold-ridden schools, hospitals, nursing homes, stores, offices, and
warehouses. In addition, many real estate sellers and real estate
brokers/agents purposely fail to disclose to prospective buyers the
existence of known mold infestation problems in the homes or other buildings
being offered for sale. Moreover, many hotels, motels, bed-and-breakfasts,
and other lodging facilities fail to disclose to prospective room guests the
existence of serious mold infestation in their room accommodations.
As a public health service of the Mold Inspector Laboratory
International, Ltd., [Belize], what this new [September 1, 2004]
Moldy Building Warning List does is to
enable the readily-available and searchable, internet, posting and
publication of the specific and detailed identity and geographic locations
and addresses of moldy properties which have been mold tested by tenants,
employees, prospective or actual real estate buyers, lodging guests, and
other interested parties. Why would such concerned parties want to post the
identity and location addresses of moldy properties to the
Warning List? Very simply: to warn
other present, prospective, or future tenants, employees, buyers, lodging
guests, visitors, and others about the undisclosed and often hidden mold
environmental health threats and risks associated with the posted
mold-infested properties. |
